6 adventurous activities to do in the Phillipines

If you’re an adventurous traveller, looking for your next vacay destination, why not consider the Philippines? With white sand beaches, luxurious islands, amazing marine life, and thrilling activities at every turn, the Philippines has everything you need for an unforgettable holiday. To help make the most of your trip there, here are 6 things to do for an adventure-filled trip to the Philippines.

1. Climb Mayon Volcano
In the island of Luzon sits The Mayon Volcano. The mountain is a sight to behold at 2462m high, and is said to have one of the most symmetrical cones in the world. Its name 'Mayon' is a derivation from the Bikolano word 'magayon' which means beautiful. The walk up this magnificent mountain is about a 2-3 day climb, so you’ll need to account for this in your travel plans. But the climb is well worth it, with many travellers saying the Mayon Volcano is one of the most exciting mountains to climb in the Philippines.

2. Swim with the whale sharks in Donsol
Head to Donsol for an opportunity to dive with the world’s largest shark! Donsol is said to have the most whale sharks in the world. These creatures are huge, with the ability to grow to the size of a school bus. And while they may be scary, they primarily feed on plankton, so you don’t have anything to worry about! The best time to see them is between April and May, which is the summer vacation period in the Philippines. The weather is best at this time of year and the months of eating by the whale sharks will have reduced the amount of plankton - improving visibility in the water.

3. Spend a day Canyoneering in Kawasu falls
Want an adventure-filled day in Cebu? Canyoneering involves walking, climbing, swimming, and abseiling through the canyon. You can book a tour with a group to help navigate your way through the flowing streams and creeks. It starts off at Canlaob River on Cebu Island, and ends at the gorgeous Kawasan Falls.

4. Sky Cycling in the Philippines
Ever thought of cycling in the sky? Well you can in the Philippines. Riding along a cable suspended 60 feet high sounds pretty fun to us. The Sky Cycling is located in the Eden Nature Park and Resort at the foot of Mount Talomo in Toril. The cable is 200 metres long, and you have to ride to the other side and back, which takes about 4 minutes. If you aren’t afraid of heights and are keen to have some fun in the sky, we recommend checking it out while in Cebu!

5. Zip-lining in El Nido
The zip-lining in El Nido combines both fun and amazing views. You’ll be able to get a bird’s-eye view of the gorgeous tropical scenery below, all while zip-lining across a 750m line. Zooming between two islands has never been more fun. FYI - The zip-lining in El Nido runs pretty fast, so be prepared to zip-line at full speed!

6. Helmet Diving in Boracay
Chuck on one of Boracay’s weightless helmets and head down under to swim and experience what the sea has to offer. From tropical fish to colourful coral, helmet diving in Boracay is one hell of an experience. You’ll also be joined by an underwater photographer snapping your pictures for you take home at the end of the dive.
